The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has called on Nigerians to turn to God for divine intervention as the nation grapples with persistent security challenges.
Pastor Kumuyi made this passionate plea while speaking with journalists following a courtesy visit to the Benue State Government House. The renowned cleric was received by the Deputy Governor, Sam Ode, who represented Governor Hyacinth Alia. The visit coincided with the commencement of a week-long Global Crusade scheduled to take place in the Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas of the state.
Spiritual Solutions to National Challenges
Addressing the press, Pastor Kumuyi emphasized that while human efforts are necessary, God remains the ultimate source of lasting solutions to Nigeria’s complex struggles. He noted that although human agents are often responsible for societal woes, they do not possess the ultimate remedy to solve them.
‘God is waiting for us,’ Kumuyi stated, referencing spiritual principles of humility and prayer. ‘He said, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,” He is ready to solve their problems.’
According to the General Superintendent, the ongoing Global Crusade in Benue State serves as a critical platform to encourage citizens to return to God and seek His supernatural assistance in overcoming their adversities.
Benue’s Progress Amidst Security Concerns
Despite the prevailing security challenges that have plagued the region, Pastor Kumuyi commended the Benue State government for its visible development strides. He applauded the notable advancements in infrastructure and education, highlighting the resilience of the state leadership.
In response, Deputy Governor Sam Ode described Benue as a land richly endowed with both agricultural and human resources. He reiterated the commitment of Governor Alia’s administration to fostering a peaceful, united, and inclusive society where all residents can thrive. The crusade comes at a symbolic time as the state observes its 50th anniversary, during which leadership has consistently urged citizens to pursue peace and reconciliation.
Benue State has been one of the regions hardest hit by insecurity in Nigeria, suffering repeated attacks by armed groups that have displaced thousands of residents. While many affected citizens remain in internally displaced persons camps, the government and security apparatus continue to collaborate on measures to restore peace and facilitate their safe return home.
