Human rights activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore on Monday, April 27, publicly mocked former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami during an appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a viral video making rounds online, Sowore was seen speaking directly to Malami, telling him that he was now facing the same kind of oppression he allegedly subjected others to while serving under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“You see how it feels now to be persecuted. When you were with Buhari at that time, you were bragging. We warned you then that there is failure in the justice system, but you didn’t listen, and now the system is dealing with you. There is failure in the system. The system is dealing with you now.”

Despite the criticism, Sowore praised Malami’s composure, saying:

“At least I’m glad that you are strong.”

He added that the country’s justice system affects both critics and former public officials.

“We are not all on the same side… even the oppressors are oppressing you now” he said.

Sowore also repeated his stance on governance and accountability in Nigeria.

“As far as the Nigeria project is concerned, no matter how powerful you people are, we will never support you. We are resilient till tomorrow,” he said.

Responding briefly, Malami insisted he remained unfazed and committed to attending his court matters.

“I can never be down. Well, I have been attending all my court sittings. I will keep attending. And I remain strong,” he said.
