Yinka Alaseyori has sparked major reactions online following remarks she made about the insecurity crisis in Nigeria.
The gospel singer came under criticism after addressing the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State during an Instagram Live session on Monday, June 1.
Her comments followed public outrage over the kidnapping of 47 pupils and seven teachers from a school in Orire Local Government Area on May 15.
While many Nigerians continue to call for stronger government action and improved security measures, Alaseyori urged citizens not to ignore the importance of prayer.
According to her, the country’s armed forces and President Bola Tinubu should not be accused of doing nothing, insisting that security agencies are actively working behind the scenes.
She further suggested that spiritual forces may sometimes obstruct rescue operations and prevent security operatives from locating criminals.
She stated:
“We need to pray. You can’t say the President and our armed forces are not working, they’re working. They might have sent security agents to the forest and something will just cover their eyes and won’t allow them see the terrorist, that’s where prayers come in.”
Her comments immediately triggered widespread debate across social media, with many Nigerians expressing frustration and arguing that victims of kidnappings are expecting practical solutions and urgent action from the authorities.
Some critics also accused the singer of appearing to defend the government amid increasing concerns over insecurity and accountability.
