Nyesom Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated Wike to be a minister, there are reports that he is under pressure.
On July 27, President Tinubu sent Wike’s name along with 27 others to the Senate for consideration.
According to reports, Wike’s predicament is related to earlier tapes in which he declared he doesn’t want to be a minister and compared the APC to a stage four cancerous tumor.
As of Thursday, July 27, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented Nyesom Wike’s name to the Senate as a nominee for a ministerial position, Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, is apparently in a difficult situation and under pressure.
Wike is under pressure as well, according to ThisDay, as previous recordings of him pledging not to become a minister or join the All Progressives Congress (APC) are still popular on social media.
Another video in which Wike described the APC as having stage 4 cancer also gained popularity.
Wike made it plain that he will not be the ministerial nominee from Rivers state during the opening of the VIP Lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and political watchers are closely monitoring the political drama as it develops to see how Wike would react to the nomination.
If Wike takes the ministerial position, the PDP will be able to get rid of him because he was widely regarded as being overly ambitious and a wannabe.
However, despite the fact that Wike made a concerted effort to get the job, many believe that if he rejects the offer, it will cast doubt on his loyalty to President Tinubu and whether his prior support was only a calculated political maneuver.
Wike’s response to the pressure and how he handles it will probably reveal the underlying reasons for his acceptance or denial of the ministerial nomination.
According to ThisDay, a PDP NWC member informed reporters at the party office on Thursday that,
“We hope he accepts it and this will allow the party to start looking inwards towards reorganisation once the presidential petition of the party in the tribunal is disposed for good.”
“He cannot be a minister in the government of the APC and still be a member of the PDP. Yes, he secured a restraining order from the court that restrained the party from suspending him, but now he cannot eat his cake and still have it back”Additionally, the PDP is anticipated to choose him tomorrow. When revealing this to THISDAY, a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) claimed the NWC was waiting to see if Wike would show up for a background check. Former governors of the states of Rivers and Kaduna, Nyesom Wike and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, have expressed their opposition to serving as ministers, according to the African Action Congress’ (AAC’s) national legal adviser, Inibehe Effiong. According to Effiong, many of President Bola Tinubu’s 28 choices for ministry are career politicians, and he finds the list uninspired. The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, commended his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, on being included on President Bola Tinubu’s list of nominees for ministerial positions. On the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Wike served as governor of Rivers State for two terms. His handpicked candidate, Fubara, took office on May 29.
