Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda in a BBC Interview on Monday said the reason why it’s difficult to stop the Boko Haram Terrorists in the North-East was due to the infiltration of the sect by armed groups from neighboring countries.
He said due to this infiltration, combating the sect and containing the insurgency has been difficult, he therefore made an appeal to the international community to assist the Federal Government in dealing with the sect.
He also dismissed claims that the sect were better armed and motivated than the soldiers, saying the soldiers have done their best in dealing with the terrorists.
He said “It is my belief that since some of the attackers come from across Nigeria’s northeast borders with Chad, Niger and Cameroon, the face of the insurgency has shifted from a national to an international operation.
“Fighting a guerilla war is very difficult especially if you have pockets of insurgents in various locations that are not easily identifiable and accessible.
“We have reasons to believe that this is not a national affair but an international one.”
