The Deputy Comptroller of Prisons, who is also in charge of the Sokoto Central Prison, Alhaji Usman Gwandu was on thursday killed by unknown gunmen at the SARDA quarters area of Sokoto.
The gunmen, Vanguard gathered, were said to have trailed the deceased to the scene where he was killed.

A resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Shaibu said that he heard gunshots but no one could go to the scene. “We did not know who was being shot. No one could come to the scene,” he said.

Vanguard further learned that Gwandu was confirmed dead at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
