Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje says the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has agreed to pick a Muslim as his running mate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Reports say Ganduje made this revelation on Friday during a prayer session with clerics ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He was quoted as saying: “We advised him to pick a Muslim deputy. He has agreed.
“A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It is not something new in Nigeria.”
The development comes amid speculations over who Tinubu would pick as his running mate, as the final deadline for the submission of candidates’ names inches closer.
Also, it follows the Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) warning to presidential candidates of political parties against choosing running mates of the same religion.
