Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artist Tems has spoken out against the ongoing body shaming she faces online.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, the singer addressed critics after a standout performance at the Root Picnic 2025, where her vocals and stage charisma captivated fans.
Despite the praise for her musical talents, some online users continued to focus on her appearance, prompting Tems to respond directly. Quoting a troll’s comment, she wrote:
“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird.* ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog IT’S MINE.”*
She further addressed how such remarks often overshadow her work and creativity, stating:
“Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see’, Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight. I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone.”
Tems wrapped up her message by reinforcing her confidence and dismissing public fixation on her body:
“The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum”
Her response has sparked a wave of support from fans and fellow artists online.
