Two children from the same mother drowned in the Osun River on New Year’s Day.

According to reports the two brothers were playing football close to the river before the one of them accidentally  kicked the bowl into the river.

The youngest among the brothers who was aged 11-year-old went into the river to retrieve the ball, but unfortunately couldn’t come out of the river.

His elder brother, a 15-year-old in a bid to save his life also went into the river and in the process also got drowned.

A third child who was playing ball with the duo, who also went into the river to save the lives of the brother was however luck to be rescued after passersby  heard his scream.

Residents claimed the brother were in Osogbo to celebrate the New Year.

Their corpses ‎have been deposited at the Asubiaro, state hospital mortuary in Osogbo.

The Osun State Police spokesperson, Mrs Folasade Odoro, confirmed ‎the incident.
