In a text exchange by Belinda Hankins and her daughter posted to Facebook, the bizarre taboo nature of tampons (and “feminine hygiene products” in general) is torn apart in the funniest possible way.
According to Hankins, the 13-year-old was sent into the store to buy tampons. Once inside, the teen realized she couldn’t find any menstrual products – after all, most stores don’t have actual signs for them. She started texting her mother, wondering where the eff these elusive tampons could be.
At first, her daughter was merely confused. “THEYRE NOT HERRREEEEEE,” she texts her mother, who assures her that they are, indeed, somewhere in the store. “Look near the condoms and sex lube,” her mom replies, already proving she’s got her own great sense of humor. Her daughter still, however, could not find the tampons.
