A TRAGIC Russian “Romeo and Juliet” who had been on the run from their parents have committed suicide after a police standoff.
Denis and Katerina, both 15, had streamed their shootout with police live via Periscope and posted a video on Instagram.
Katerina is heard explaining in Russian how she had a bust up with her mum because she was not allowed to have a sleepover.
She said: “We had a sleepover at my friend’s place. I wasn’t allowed to go, but I went anyway.
“They found me at night…
“It was harsh and it all happened in front of Denis and his mother. I ran away again.”
It is understood Denis then shot Katerina’s mum in the hip before fleeing, although it is unclear whether or not this was an accident.
The teens reportedly spent the next three days hiding from their parents at a house a town near Pskov in northwest Russia.
Police tracked them down and a siege unfolded.
The doomed duo had been armed with handguns, rifles, knives and walkie-talkies.
One of them then opened fire on a police van.
Special negotiators tried to spur them to give up.
But during their Periscope livestream, however, Katya can be heard saying “we have zero options”.
And Denis adds: “If we don’t surrender, we die. But if we surrender, we will never see each other again.”
They then turned guns on themselves and committed suicide before they could be convinced.
