A coalition of young professionals from the South East, operating under the banner of the South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA), has urged Ndigbo to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
In a statement jointly signed by the group’s convener, Mr. John CDO Ikeotuonye, and secretary, Dr. Justin Ogoo Nwankwo, SEPA warned that the region stands to lose if it fails to support the president’s second-term bid.
The organization expressed confidence that many people in the region are gradually embracing President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope message and are recognizing the importance of forming alliances with him rather than opposing his administration.
SEPA maintained that the president’s message is gaining ground and anticipated widespread support from the South East in the upcoming 2027 elections.
They emphasized: “The only time to demonstrate that the South East has taken it’s proper seat in strategic planning and geo political renaissance in Nigeria is in the upcoming 2027 election and the best choice for Ndi-Igbo to make, is to unanimously key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Highlighting the president’s efforts to promote transparency and development, the group stated: “For us at SEPA, President Tinubu has shown immense courage to address issues like diversion of funds by state governments, delays in remitting funds, and ultimately vision to enhance local government accountability and development.”
SEPA encouraged unity and collaboration across the region, especially among forward-thinking youth, saying: “SEPA immediately calls for a close of ranks and building of bridges in the entire South Eastern States, especially by young professionals and progressives – who are tired of back room and arm chair politics.”
They further called on proactive individuals to join the movement, urging: “We call on young professionals and progressive ambassadors willing to make a difference by joining President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to reintegrate, reconcile and reconstruct the South East Region to rise and be part of this socio- political movement for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027.”
In conclusion, SEPA urged the South East to be prepared and strategic in the coming election: “We therefore resolve and advise Ndi-Igbo that 2027 must not catch South East Region unawares! We must be prepared to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda, and position for strategic and progressive alliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The group cited several initiatives to back their support, such as the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), the appointment of a Special Adviser for community liaison in the South East, political placements for people of the zone, and Tinubu’s official visits to all South Eastern states.
They concluded by reaffirming their belief in Tinubu’s leadership: “Following the tide of events, it is evident that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the capacity and will achieve his promises to Nigeria. We believe in Tinubu to restructure and recover the Nigerian state from failure.”
