The combined team of soldiers and the operatives of the Nigerian Police have recovered eleven out of the 12 burnt and decomposed bodies of the slain Policemen along the creeks and waterways of the Azuzama communities of the Southern Ijaw Local Government areas of Bayelsa state.
Some of the recovered bodies were reportedly burnt beyond recognition and mutilated by their killers. They were also reportedly stripped of their uniforms and denier rifles stolen in the attack.
The news of the recovery of the decomposed bodies of the Policemen yesterday attracted a crowd of family members and sympathizers to the FMC waterside. A team of armed Policemen were also deployed to provide security to the team of pathologists and ambulances stationed to conveyed the bodies to the morgue.
As at the time of the filing in the report, scores of women, youths and sympathizers related to the deceased policemen were seen wearing long faces.
The Spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr.Alex Akhigbe, confirmed that the bodies of the killed Policemen have been recovered and are been moved to the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre.
