Police officers attached to the Pedro Police station are investigating a Lagos based businessman, Muyiwa Gentry, the owner of MAG Consolidated Limited and owner of MAGVERO Hotel at Iju -Ishaga, over alleged theft of a CRV car.
The said car was allegedly stolen from a car mart at the Obanikoro area of the state on July 6, 2013. The owner of the CRV, one Dozie Nwaigwe, a car dealer, said suspected armed robbers stole the car where it was parked at Obanikoro but it was later recovered from one Mrs. Osakwe’s house in Ogun state.
The police also arrested two other suspects, Osakwe and one Muyiwa Olagunju, in connection with the alleged crime.
Today’s Telegraph was informed that Gentry, in connivance with Olagunju, allegedly sold the CRV car with Registration NumberLagos AKD-942BM to Osakwe for N900,000 but Osakwe claimed she was not aware the car was stolen.
The suspects have been granted bail. When contacted on the phone over the alleged theft, Gentry denied he was arrested. He said ” How did you find out about this case. I don’t know anything. I don’t know anything.”
Also Mrs. Osakwe referred the reporter to Olagunju.
“I don’t know anything. You can ask Muyiwa,” she said.
When Olagunju was contacted on his mobile phone, he threatened to kill the reporter.
“If you don’t want to die before your time, do not call this number again. If you don’t want to die young, do not call this number again,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nwaigwe is appealing to the Inspector General of police, Mohammed Abubakar and the Lagos State Commisioner of police Umar Manko to save his business from car theft.
He alleged that armed robbers have constantly targeted his business and made away with his fairly used cars which he displays for sale.
Nwaigwe added that armed robbers stole three of his vehicles — a CRV,a Nissan Terano truck and a Musibishi L300 in the last three years.
The car dealer added that the armed robbers forced him to relocate his car mart from Opebi area of the state after they stole the Nissan Terano truck and the Mushibishi L300 but he faced the same fate after he relocated to Obanikoro.
“I am not happy about this as I believe these suspects are trying to pervert justice. I am appealing to the Lagos CP and the IGP to help secure my business and my life as I don’t feel safe any more,” Nwaigwe said.
