Peter Okoye has reacted to the criticism he received after announcing that he would no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18, a date he shares with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
The singer had earlier taken to his X (formerly Twitter) account on April 20 to reveal that he has now chosen November 30 as his new birthday. The decision sparked mixed reactions online, with many accusing him of deepening the rift between himself and his brother following the breakup of P-Square.
Addressing the backlash in a follow-up post, Peter responded with a series of remarks:
‘’Una dey vex like say I cancel Christmas?
Na my birthday date I move… no be your own, why e dey pain you?
Even Jesus Christ December 25th date sef, people still dey debate am
Why cry more than the bereaved? Only in Nigeria Funny how my birthday date shift is causing more pain than Nigeria’s real problems
Just for the record: Insult no dey reduce success.
Who don make am, don make am! Know that and know peace”
