In a bid to reinforce regional security, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a 24-hour extension of the curfew currently active across ten local government areas. These affected zones all border the expansive Old Oyo National Park, a critical region currently under heightened security surveillance.
The extension was officially communicated through a public memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, and circulated to relevant government and security agencies.
Initially declared on June 23, 2026, the restriction was set to run daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM for a 48-hour window. With this latest directive, the curfew will now remain active until Saturday, June 27, 2026, allowing authorities more time to stabilize security in the area.
Securing the Border Regions
While specific security threats were not detailed in the official memo, the proximity of these local government areas to the Old Oyo National Park has made them vital focal points for state-led security operations. The extension underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order in vulnerable border communities.

The curfew remains strictly enforced in the following ten local government jurisdictions, listed with their respective administrative headquarters:
- Oriire (Headquarters in Ikoyi-Ile)
