Six days after all labour unions embarked on a nationwide action to protest the removal of fuel subsidy and the exorbitant increase in pump price of PMS(premium motor spirit), NLC has finally suspended the strike. This suspension comes at the back of President Jonathan’s reversal of the pump price of PMS from N141 to N97.
While some Nigerians heave a sigh of relief that the strike is over, some show outrage at what they deem “NLC’s double cross”.
In a joint press briefing in Abuja this afternoon, the president of the nigeria labour congress, Mr Abdulwaheed Omar, and president of the trade union congress, Peter Esele, say the decision to suspend the strike arose after consultations with all those involved, adding that the organised labour was not part of the new pump price of petrol fixed at N97 per litre.
The organised labour hinted earlier in the day that labour will be addressing the nation after a meeting with federal government.
