MTN Nigeria has issued an apology to its customers following widespread backlash over the recent increase in data plan prices.
In a statement released on Thursday, the telecommunications giant expressed regret, particularly to users of its 15GB data bundle.
The company acknowledged the frustration caused by the sudden 200% price increase, which saw the cost of the 15GB bundle jump from ₦2,000 to ₦6,000.
MTN admitted to the misstep, stating:
“To our 15GB bundle loyalists, we understand your frustration. Waking up to a sudden price hike on your favorite bundle must have been upsetting.
We could list several reasons behind the increase, but honestly, that would just be long talk.
We messed up, and we admit it. Call it a mistake on our part.
As we celebrate the season of love, please don’t stay mad at us. We value you deeply and promise to keep showing you how much you mean to us.”
