A tragic incident unfolded in Ibadan on Monday morning when an unidentified man reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of the iconic 26-storey Cocoa House, a landmark in the Oyo State capital.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as both shocking and disturbing.
One onlooker shared, “At first, I thought it was a big bird falling from the sky. It wasn’t until the body hit the ground that I realized it was a person.”
Another witness added, “The man first hit the roof near the security post before landing on the ground. It was horrifying.”
The exact cause of the fall is still unknown. Authorities are investigating whether it was an accident, a deliberate act, or linked to any structural issues with the building.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, which manages Cocoa House, confirmed the incident and stated that emergency responders acted promptly.
Victor Ayetoro, the company’s Head of Branding and Communication, said:
“The individual was immediately attended to by emergency teams and taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for urgent treatment.”
He assured the public that the company is fully supporting the investigation and remains committed to maintaining strict safety standards.
As of now, the identity and condition of the victim have not been officially disclosed.
