An Abuja Federal High Court has delivered a landmark judgment, sentencing four terrorists to death by hanging for their involvement in the horrific June 5, 2022, attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State. The brutal assault claimed the lives of 43 worshipers, shocking the nation and drawing widespread condemnation.

Justice Emeka Nwite, presiding over the case, pronounced the four accused guilty on all nine counts of the charge leveled against them. The convicts, identified as Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza (25), Al Qasim Idris (20), Jamiu Abdulmalik (26), and Abdulhaleem Idris (25), are to be hanged until pronounced dead.

Court Proceedings and Verdict

The judgment, delivered on Wednesday, marked a significant step in seeking justice for the victims and their families. Throughout the trial, the prosecution presented evidence linking the quartet to the heinous act of terrorism. The court found their culpability undeniable, leading to the ultimate penalty.
