The United States Central Command twitter and youtube accounts have been suspended after persons believed to ISIS sympathisers hacked them.
One message said: “American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back. We won’t stop!” We know everything about you, your wives and children.”
Personal details of senior officers were also disclosed.
Another message on Centcom twitter feed read: ” In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate continues its CyberJihad.”
Pentagon spokesman Army Colonel Steve Warren at a press briefing said the Defense Department “views this as little more than a prank, or as vandalism.”
“It’s inconvenient, it’s an annoyance but in no way is any sensitive or classified information compromised.”
