A hawker and concerned resident of Abuja, Mr Daura Usman, on Tuesday saved a student of Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada, from being kidnapped by a motorist.

The incident took place along Ibrahim Babangida Way in Wuse Zone 4 as the student was going to school.

Usman alleged that he saw the man alight from the back-seat of a Sienna (SUV) vehicle and walked toward the young girl in school uniform and dragged her toward the vehicle.

“The man walked straight to her as if he knew her and I expected a confrontation.

“At first, I thought he would confront her because she was outside the school premises during school hours, but he just lifted her by the waist and made his way toward the car.
“She began screaming, so I quickly dropped my things and ran to confront the suspected kidnapper.

“The man noticed that people were coming around so he left her and got into the sienna which sped off on the Central Mosque Express Way.

“We thank Allah that she is now safe and we thank Him for his mercy,” Usman said. The Police in FCT had in March rescued an eight-year-old boy from his abductors, who were demanding N1 million ransom from the parents.

The then FCT Commissioner of Police Wilson Inalegwu said the father of the boy informed them when the suspected kidnappers abducted the boy and later called to demand the ransom of N1 million. He bargained and ended at N250,000, which the suspects agreed.

According to Inalegwu, the police recovered part of the ransom and refunded to the father of the boy. Inalegwu said the boy was abducted while waiting to get a bus from Nyanya to Orozo.
