Acting scribe of the Nigerian Premier League Tunji Babalola has revelead that Heartland have been banished to Calabar where they will play all their subsequent league matches.
Also a fine of N1.6 million naira has been imposed on them. This punishment is being meted out to the team after their fans molested and attacked match officials after the game against Enyimba over the weekend.
According to Babalola, “We want to warn all the Premier League clubs to make sure they control their fans so that there will be an enabling environment for all the teams to do their best.”
Giving a breakdown of the N1.6 to million to be paid Babalola said, “They (Heartlands) will pay N1m to the league body. They will also pay N200, 000 each to the three officials who officiated the game.”
The official of the NPL hopes the heavy fine imposed will serve as deterrent to other teams
