Oil-rich, Gabon has deported over six hundred West African national, foreign ministry officials in Senegal have revealed.
The Gabonese authorities arrested and deported the migrants by boat on Saturday over illegal residence.
The deportees were currently in Calabar, south-eastern Nigeria, a statement by the Senegalese foreign ministry noted.
The seventy-five Senegalese among the deportees “will stay” in Nigeria “before arrangements are completed to take them to neighbouring Benin from where they would either be flown, transported by sea or by bus back home,” the ministry also said.
