Nigeria’s rank as football nation to reckon with continue to plummet.
In a new FIFA ranking released for the month of September, Nigeria is now ranked number 52 in the world and 10th in Africa.
Countries like Cape Verde, Senegal, Congo, Algeria outrank Nigeria.
At the height of its prowess, Nigeria once ranked 4th best soccer nation in the world in 1994, the year Super Eagles won the Nations Cup for a second time and qualified for and played in the World Cup.
Since then politics, coaches and FA bickering, players agitation for incentives before putting up stellar performances for country has ensured a dip in performance of the Super Eagles who were once a formidable team in Africa.
If it is consolation, Nigeria moved up a spot from the 53rd position they occupied last month to the 52nd position in the latest rankings released by FIFA on Thursday.
