Academics represented by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have begun receiving their previously withheld salaries, according to reports by Punch. Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin, the ASUU chairperson at the Federal University of Technology in Minna, confirmed the news, saying that payments have started to come in. The release of four months’ worth of salaries was authorized by President Bola Tinubu in October 2023. The salaries had been withheld due to a ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ implemented by the government of former President Muhammadu Buhari against university-based unions that had gone on strike for eight months in 202.
