Sir Engr. Prince-Henry Hart Ucheonwu, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Enugu State, has been conferred with the coveted Silent Hero in Leadership and Development Award. This distinguished recognition took place at the 2026 Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards, held recently in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The eighth annual edition of the awards celebrated Nigerians whose quiet yet significant contributions have profoundly impacted governance, national security, leadership, and community development across the country.
Distinguished Recognition Alongside National Figures
Prince-Henry Hart, an esteemed son of Enugu State, was recognized alongside an array of eminent Nigerians. The list of honorees included several state governors such as Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Mohammed Dago of Niger, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, as well as the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur. Leading figures from Nigeria’s security architecture were also celebrated, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu; the Chief of Army Staff, General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi. Immediate past President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Christopher Isiguzo, was also among the respected recipients.
A Solemn Affirmation of Service and Integrity
Receiving the award before a distinguished audience of dignitaries, traditional rulers, senior security officers, politicians, and business leaders, Prince-Henry Hart humbly described the honour not as a personal achievement, but as a poignant reminder of the enduring values of service, integrity, and sacrifice. He expressed profound gratitude to the organizers for deeming him worthy of such recognition, stating that the award represented “a solemn affirmation of the enduring values of service, integrity, sacrifice and commitment to the common good.”
The Uzo-Uwani-born expert in oil sector development further lauded the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards for carving a unique niche by spotlighting individuals whose greatest achievements are measured by the positive impact on lives. He contrasted this approach with a contemporary culture often driven by visibility and self-promotion. Prince-Henry Hart also commended the awards’ organizers and selection committee for their unwavering dedication to recognizing excellence without fanfare.
“I accept this award with immense humility because I am acutely aware that no meaningful achievement is ever the product of one individual alone,” he remarked, dedicating the honour to his supportive family, mentors, colleagues, associates, and steadfast supporters.
Spotlighting Nigeria’s Unsung Heroes
Earlier in the event, Mr. Sunday Odita, the Founder of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards, elaborated on the initiative’s mission. He stated that the awards were established to honour Nigerians whose crucial contributions to national development often remain unnoticed despite their far-reaching impact. Odita highlighted that while Nigeria has produced numerous celebrated leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators, many citizens making substantial societal improvements operate quietly, missing the recognition they truly deserve. He affirmed that the awards strive to illuminate these unsung heroes, fostering a national culture that prioritizes selfless service, integrity, and truly impactful leadership.
