Governor Dave Umahi on Friday, sacked the Ebonyi State University Vice-Chancellor, Francis Idike and other principal officers, following the amendment of the EBSU Law 005 of 2016.
The State Governor who gave the order after assenting to the amended law, said having exhausted their eight-year tenure as stipulated in the amendment, the officers should bow out with immediate effect.

Umuahi, however, expressed concern with the five-year two terms in the previous law, noting that any Vice Chancellor who spends 10 years in office may become inefficient.

The amended law, according to the governor, allows a Vice Chancellor to remain in office after 70 years of age.
