The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Kogi State has announced the expulsion of two students for allegedly engaging in same-sex activities. In a parallel disciplinary action, the institution has rusticated four other students for one academic session following a physical altercation on campus.
These severe penalties were detailed in official letters distributed to the affected students, which were signed on Saturday by Eli Gbadafu, the Deputy Registrar of Academics. According to university authorities, the punitive actions followed recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, which were formally ratified during the 31st regular meeting of the CUSTECH Senate.
Details of the Disciplinary Action
The university disclosed that the sanctions were applied in accordance with the provisions of the second edition of the CUSTECH Students’ Handbook, as amended in 2025. The two expelled students have been identified as:
- Onumoko Hamza (Biology Education Department)
- Abdulazeez Eneji (Mining Engineering Department)
Both individuals were found guilty of engaging in gay practices following a comprehensive investigation by the disciplinary panel.
Furthermore, the four students suspended for their involvement in a campus fight are:
- Favor Akowe (Microbiology Department)
- Simbiat Babamuharuna (Biology Department)
- Zainab Omayoza (Biochemistry Department)
- Sukura Bukola (Biochemistry Department)
