Former Head of State, Maj,-General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd.) has refuted claims that a suspect currently being detained by the Econoimic and Financial Crimes Commission for a N20m scam is his adopted son.
Chairman of the Buhari Vanguard, Mr. Jasper Azuatalam, today issued a disclamier on behalf of Buhari.
Excerpt frpm the statement reads thus:
“Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) wishes to state categorically that he does not have any adopted son called Muhammed Buhari and had no need to adopt a son at any time, having been blessed with choice children, both male and female.
“Muhammadu Buhari and his family do not know the said Muhammed Buhari, who is alleged to be involved in a N20m scam and is being held by the EFCC as reported.”
Azuatalam described the story as an attempt by mischief makers to smear the image of the former military leader and urged Nigerians to ignore the report, saying Buhari and his family would continue to set high standards for others to emulate.
