Artificial Intelligence has quickly become the driving force behind modern digital transformation. Whether it’s identity management, cybersecurity, business automation, customer analytics, or daily operations, AI is shaping how organisations build trust, protect their systems, and offer better services.
This theme was front and centre at the Ogun Digital Summit 2025, where I joined other technology leaders for an in-depth panel conversation titled “Emerging Tech: AI & Blockchain.”
For all of us on that panel, AI is not something we expect in the future, it is already the heartbeat of today’s digital economy.
My contributions were informed by years spent managing technology operations across government institutions, pension administration, financial services, and the restaurant/retail industry. The same lessons appear across these sectors: AI helps modernize infrastructure, strengthen security, and align technology closely with real organisational needs.
AI Is Redefining How Organisations Work
AI makes it possible for systems to learn, adapt, and make smart decisions. For organisations that handle large amounts of data or require strict operational integrity, this is a game changer. From improving the reliability of government ICT platforms to predicting operational trends in pension administration and restaurant chains, AI now plays a key role in efficiency, monitoring, compliance, and risk management.
Digital Trust in a New Security Environment
One major highlight of the summit was the shift from simple logins and passwords to security models based on behaviour. With the sensitivity of the data handled in sectors like pensions and financial services, AI-driven security helps detect irregular actions, flag suspicious activity, automate compliance, and reduce insider threats.
The Power of AI and Blockchain Together
AI makes systems smart, while blockchain keeps things clear and impossible to tamper with. When both are combined, organisations gain systems that are secure, traceable, and difficult to compromise. The interesting synergy between AI and Blockchain is that, Blockchain protects the integrity of data, while AI examines that data to predict patterns, identify fraud, and support compliance. This combination strengthens credibility and helps build user trust. For sectors such as pension funds, digital identity frameworks, and retail operations, the combination provides transparency, trust, and security at a level that was impossible a few years ago.
Keeping Technology Human
A point that resonated strongly throughout the summit is that AI must remain human-centred. Technology only succeeds when it improves people’s lives, making processes clearer, faster, and more reliable. AI should empower teams, not replace them. Ethical, transparent, and user-friendly AI is the future.
Nigeria’s Digital Path Forward
Nigeria is entering a defining moment in its digital evolution. Events like the Ogun Digital Summit bring together government, private sector leaders, and innovators to shape national strategy around AI, cybersecurity, digital identity, and financial inclusion. The opportunities ahead are significant.
Conclusion
Organisations that understand and apply AI strategically will be the ones shaping the next decade. The summit reinforced Nigeria’s readiness to participate in global conversations about AI and emerging technologies, leading with integrity, innovation, and a human-centred approach.
