Ademola Lookman has confirmed he is fit and available for Atletico Madrid’s crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal FC on Wednesday.
The winger missed Atletico’s last two matches because of an adductor injury but has now returned to the squad and is expected to play at the Metropolitano Stadium.
“I missed the last few matches, but now I feel much better,” Lookman told a press conference on Monday. “The first time I played against Arsenal was when I was a kid, with Charlton. Wednesday will be a very special game.”
The Nigerian star also praised manager Diego Simeone for helping improve his game.
“I’ve grown in every way with Diego Simeone, especially defensively. I think I’m a more complete player now, but I can still improve in every aspect.
“It’s great to have his trust, it gives you even more confidence.”
Speaking on the atmosphere expected from the home crowd, Lookman said the supporters always provide extra motivation.
“As long as we have the fans with us, it’s special. They give us a lot of energy. When we played in Barcelona, the fans were at our hotel since 11am, that feeling is just unmatched.”
Atletico Madrid will hope to make the most of home advantage before the return leg in London.
With Lookman back available, Simeone regains an important attacking option who has become a key part of his team this season.
