Venita Akpofure and the producers of the reality program have been threatened with a N10 billion lawsuit for allegedly “defaming” the Tiv Nation by the Hon. Dickson Tarkighir.

In the reality show, Venita made the statement that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.” This statement has drawn criticism.
The Tiv people of Nigeria’s North Central were outraged by her allegation, and many demanded that she be sued.
Hon. Tarkighir has therefore urged that Venita and the Big Brother Naija company be held liable for giving her “the mega platform to defame the Tiv tribe.”
He declared on his Facebook page: “#Venita Akpofure- Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand, and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
