Yvonne Jegede recently issued a public apology to Queen May Edochie following her remarks on a podcast episode.
The actress faced backlash for her defense of Yul Edochie’s second marriage to Judy during her appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast hosted by Nedu Wazobia.
Jegede clarified that her remarks were not as egregious as they were portrayed online, noting that many of Edochie’s critics hailed from polygamous backgrounds.
After reflecting on her words, Jegede acknowledged the insensitivity of her statement and expressed remorse in an apology letter.
She clarified that her intention was to shed light on societal issues relevant to her new movie but conceded that her message may have been misconstrued.
Jegede stressed that while polygamy is a cultural norm in Nigeria, it should be practiced responsibly.
