Medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres has warned the Sierra Leone government that the Ebola virus epidemic can’t be contained by a lockdown measure.
The lockdown which is scheduled to begin September 19,is supposed to help quarantine new cases of Ebola,a plan which the MSF has warned will backfire who in a statement reported by Reuters said the lockdown will “end up driving people underground and jeopardizing the trust between the people and health providers”.
Ebola virus has killed over 500 people in sierra Leone and creating a state of panic and chaos in the state was what prompted the lockdown measure which the government is adamant to carry out despite the MSF’s warnings.
