Yemi Alade, a popular Afrobeats singer from Nigeria, recently addressed a fan who compared her to her colleague Tiwa Savage and claimed that she was better than her. Both Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are highly successful and celebrated female music stars in Nigeria. However, there has been speculation of a rivalry between them, at least among their respective fanbases.
To dismiss any such notion, Yemi Alade cautioned a fan on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) against speaking negatively about Tiwa Savage. The incident occurred when Yemi Alade, who is scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, shared a video clip on the platform with the caption, “Africa, our time is NOW!!”
In response, a fan with the username @ThatNigerianlad made a derogatory remark about Tiwa Savage, stating, “You are better than Tiwa.” Yemi Alade quickly dismissed the fan’s negative comment by saying, “Comparison is the thief of Joy. We’re both winning….celebrate and support us all.”
