Popular Nollywood star Wumi Toriola has publicly apologised to veteran filmmaker Afeez Owo after their recent social media clash.
The pair reconciled on Wednesday night during Odunlade Adekola’s movie premiere, where Wumi was seen in a viral video approaching Afeez, kneeling before him and saying, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me.”
Although Afeez initially attempted to walk away, he eventually helped her up and gave her a hug.
NAIJALOG recalls that about two months ago, Wumi called out Afeez for comments he made during an appearance on the African A-List podcast. Afeez had stated that the characters she plays in movies are “similar to her character in real life”, adding that “violence is her comfort zone.”
Wumi responded with a now-deleted Instagram video in which she slammed the actor, describing his remarks as “rubbish.”
The backlash that followed saw many social media users side with Afeez, claiming his comments were true. Shortly after the incident, Wumi was reportedly hospitalised.
