WOMAN DIES AFTER HOUSEMAID’S BITE

Mother of three dies after she engaged in a fight with her neighbors housemaid, who bit her on the breast

Ibadan—The police in Oyo State are investigating how an alleged bite by a housemaid, Elizabeth Fatoki, led to the death of her employer’s neighbour.

According to a source, the deceased, identified as Tawa Lawal, 30, was engaged in a brawl with the maid when the latter bit her breast.

Mrs. Lawal was then rushed to a hospital, where she died after some days.

The deceased, a mother of three, lived at Salvation Army area of Ekotedo in Ibadan North-West area of the state.

The children of the deceased are Barakat, 15; Waris, 10; and Aliya, 2. Their mother has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Her widower while narrating the circumstances that led to the death of his wife, Mr. Aliu Lawal, said after the quarrel during which the suspect allegedly bit her, she complained of headache and pains at night.

He explained further that she was rushed to Alaafia Hospital, Mokola, Ibadan, where she died later.

Doctor’s diagnosis
The doctor, who attended to her on arrival at the hospital, Dr. Adedamola Odebode, said tetanus infection could not have been the cause of her death.

The suspect was said to have gone into hiding after the unfortunate incident.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the suspect was still on the run.
He said: “The case has been reported and we are on the look out for the suspect because she is on the run.

“I am using this medium to urge members of the public to give useful information on the whereabouts of the suspect.
“So it is true. We are investigating the incident.”
