Prof. Oluwole Akinwande Soyinka is bereaved .
Iyetade Soyinka daughter of the Nobel Laurate and mother of two kids gave up the ghost aged 48 at the University College Hospital, yesterday after struggling with health challenges in recent years.
A statement released by the family’s spokesperson Jahman Anikulapo to announce here death noted that despite her failing health the late Iyatade “greeted every day with a smile and doted on her two children.”
Iyatade studied Medicine and Surgery at Nigeria’s Premier University, the Univerisity of Ibadan, same tertiary institution where here father earned his first Bachelor’s Degree and where the erudite scholar started his work career. As a teenager she attend Queens School, Ibadan after finishing her primary education at the Staff School, Ibadan.
Iyatade who was described as “affable, intelligent and sometimes capricious,” leaves behind two children, both parents, numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.
