Godson, a close associate of Grammy-winning star Wizkid, has opened up about the reason behind the cancellation of the artist’s upcoming U.S. concerts.

The sudden cancellation of shows scheduled for June 2025 in major cities like Atlanta (State Farm Arena), New York (Madison Square Garden), and Houston (Toyota Center) triggered widespread speculation and concern among fans online.

Although early reports hinted that poor ticket sales might have influenced the decision, the actual cause remained unclear until Godson addressed the matter during a Snapchat Q&A session.

In response to a fan’s question about the cancellations, Godson revealed that Wizkid is still mourning the loss of his mother, Jane Dolapo, and is going through the grieving process without much support.

Wizkid’s mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on August 18, 2023, in London. During her wake, the singer gave an emotional tribute, describing the pain of her loss as the most intense he had ever experienced.

Her burial was a well-attended event, drawing figures from the entertainment industry, prominent dignitaries, and Big Brother Naija stars.
