The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has donated N300 million to the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO.
Governor Wike made the announcement at the ongoing 22nd National Women’s Conference (NWC) in Lagos.
The donation comes in the aftermath of a recent devastating flood that submerged some communities in the state, leaving thousands homeless and hungry.
Over 200 communities in four Rivers State local councils, namely Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA), Ahoada West, Ahoada East, and Abual Odual, have been displaced by the ravaging flood.
In his speech, Wike stated that the involvement of women in politics and decision-making in Lagos State is what allows it to continue to set the pace in the country.
He expressed his admiration for everything COWLSO is doing in Lagos State and promised to implement everything he had learned at the conference in his own state.
Governor Wike also used the occasion to declare his full support for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-re-election Olu’s bid in the 2023 general elections.
