Some Nigerian Police Force personnel have expressed concern about the late payment of their February salaries.
This is not the first time that police officers have complained about being paid late for their salaries and allowances.
SaharaReporters recently reported that police authorities failed to pay officers’ special duty allowances for voting in the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.
If the money was not paid, some of the officers who spoke to the newspaper threatened to boycott the March 11 governorship and state house of assembly elections.
The officers stated that they used their own funds throughout the election, expecting to be reimbursed.
Some police officers told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that they had yet to receive their February salaries.
One of them stated that while some of his colleagues had been paid, he and many others had not.
According to him, the affected police officers were dissatisfied with how the Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government and Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba, were treating police officers.
“We’re tired and very hungry because our salaries haven’t been paid but it is quite unfortunate that we can’t complain to the public.
