The ongoing feud between fast-rising Nigerian music star Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, widely known as Qing Madi, and her record label, JTON Music, has taken another dramatic turn. Following heated allegations from the singer, the entertainment firm has officially broken its silence to set the record straight regarding their complex legal battle.

The controversy reached a boiling point after Qing Madi’s recently released Barely Legal EP was suddenly pulled from major streaming platforms, sparking widespread concern and speculation among her fanbase.

Qing Madi’s Bombshell Allegations

Before JTON’s official statement, Qing Madi took to TikTok Live to air her grievances, accusing her former label boss, Joy Tongo, of financial misconduct and forgery. Visibly emotional, the teenage sensation claimed that JTON Music was actively trying to sabotage her promising career.

She also alleged that the label’s move to take down her songs was a malicious retaliatory act after they reportedly lost a $2 million lawsuit against her. Describing the entire ordeal as emotionally draining, the singer’s public outburst quickly went viral, prompting intense scrutiny of the label’s practices.

JTON Music Denies Harassment and Claims of Intimidation

Responding to the heavy accusations, JTON Music released a detailed public statement via Instagram to counter the singer’s narrative. The label categorically denied any wrongdoing, stating firmly that it has never threatened Qing Madi nor authorized anyone to harass or intimidate her.

According to JTON, the narrative being peddled online is both false and misleading. The company clarified that it was actually Qing Madi who first initiated legal proceedings, and that the label’s subsequent actions are merely standard, lawful measures designed to safeguard its investments, intellectual property, and contractual rights.

The Legal Reality: Lagos High Court Ruling

To clear up the confusion surrounding the “lost” lawsuit, JTON Music shed light on the recent ruling by the High Court of Lagos State. Contrary to reports of a total defeat, the label revealed that the court actually granted a partial injunction in its favor.

This court order restrains Qing Madi from performing or releasing any music that was financed under her contract with JTON. Furthermore, she is legally barred from entering into any new recording or promotional deals using her brand name until the substantive lawsuit is fully resolved.

JTON also reminded the public and stakeholders of its active recording and distribution partnerships with international powerhouses Sony Music and Bu Vision. The label emphasized that these binding agreements must be respected by all parties involved, reiterating that all of its actions remain firmly within the boundaries of Nigerian and New York laws.
