A policeman , Taloju Martins, attached to the Ago Police Station has been arrested for extortion.
Martins was since in a viral video published on Friday collecting bribe to the tune of 40,000 naira to release a seized vehicle.
The victim of the extortion, a resident of the area claimed he was on his way to buy food stuff and fuel for his family.
Recall Lagos is on lockdown due to the coronavirus.
Martins was caught on Friday in a video that had gone viral on Twitter, counting the extorted money from a resident who claimed he was stopped while on his way to buy food stuff and fuel for his family.
In a tweet the Lagos State Police command said, ” The Police Officer from Ago Division in the trending video has been identified and arrested. He will be subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings known as Orderly room trial. #SayNOtoImpunity #BeSafe.”
