The Nigerian film industry and fans alike have been thrown into deep concern following revelations that veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage 4 cancer. The distressing news was shared by his family in an emotional public appeal, seeking medical or traditional interventions to save his life.
An Emotional Appeal for Medical and Alternative Solutions
In a video shared on Instagram, the actor’s daughter, Shaki Taiwo, tearfully reached out to the public, not for financial contributions, but for viable treatment solutions. According to Shaki, the hospital where her father was receiving care has stopped chemotherapy sessions, citing the highly advanced stage of the disease.
Expressing her desperation, Shaki clarified that the family’s financial needs are currently being met, thanking a prominent public figure for his immense support. “Please, we are not here to ask for money, and I really want to appreciate Senator Yayi. He has been the one footing the bill,” she stated. “What I’m here for is that if you can treat my daddy medically or traditionally, please, I’m begging in the name of God, help us.”
She further shared her father’s current state of mind, emphasizing his desire to overcome the illness. “My daddy doesn’t want to die. Please, I don’t want my daddy to die. He’s in pain. He’s not happy. Please, guys, I’m begging you, if you know anybody that can treat cancer,” she pleaded.
A Sudden Diagnosis Shocking the Family
The severity of the health crisis has caught the family completely off guard. The veteran actor’s second daughter, Haleemah, confirmed via her social media platform that they were entirely unaware of their father’s critical health condition until very recently.
Haleemah revealed that they only found out about the advanced cancer diagnosis three weeks ago, underscoring how sudden and devastating the news has been for the household.
As the news spreads, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers across Nigeria and the diaspora have begun sharing the family’s appeal, offering prayers and actively searching for oncology experts and specialists who might offer a lifeline to the beloved screen icon.
