Controversial social media critic VeryDarkMan has criticized participants of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, claiming many joined for clout rather than genuine activism.
His comments followed the recent demonstration led by Omoyele Sowore, which ended with the arrest of key figures, including Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s brother and his lawyer. After the arrests, the protest lost momentum almost immediately.
Speaking during an Instagram live session, VeryDarkMan said the quick collapse of the rally proved that most protesters were only following trends.
According to him:
“Once they arrested Sowore, everything died. Most of them didn’t even know what they were protesting for. They went because of hype, not because they understood the cause.”
He warned that the same pattern might affect Nnamdi Kanu’s court case if Nigerians continue relying on social media noise without real action.
“Now it’s only Nnamdi Kanu going to court. And guess what? It will be like this for the next five years because all you do is make noise,” he added.
VeryDarkMan emphasized that while protests may make headlines, without strategy, awareness, and consistency, they rarely bring meaningful changes.
