Obama says America underestimated the activities of the IS in syria while also overestimating the capability of Iraq’s army to “counter” the threat.
American intelligence underestimated insurgence in Syria which allowed them create a “ground zero” niche for terrorist groups worldwide as “they took advantage of the chaos” in the ungoverned region to “reconstitute themselves”.
Obama in an interview on CBS television while speaking of the “to be” adopted strategy he said “we just have to push them back and shrink their spaces,and go after their command and control, and their capacity, and their fueling, and cut off their financing, and work to eliminate the flow of foreign fighters.
How all of that is to be achieved time will tell has the Obama reiterated not acknowledging President Bashir Al Assad’s regime has a role to play in the fight against insurgence in his own territory despite the inability of military to combat the threat and hesitation on the western part to have “boots in ground” while also contradicting UN’s policy by ruling out the Assad Regime altogether.
