Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has tackled Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani in ‘his own’ way.
Twitter was banned in Iran in 2009 But at the United Nations general assembly in New York, President Rouhani has been very active on twitter (who is he passing the messages to?). Dick Costolo challenged him very politely, asked him to allow the Iranian people get access to his tweets from the UN.
Since the President was elected in 2009, Twitter and Facebook has been officially banned in Iran, although citizens still bypass the firewall with the use of Virtual Private Networks and Internet Protocol Masks.
But the President has 2 active twitter accounts, one in english and the other in Farsi, with his Foreign Minister, who do daily updates on his Facebook account.
