The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bamanga Tukur, has reached out to the governors of Akwa Ibom and Plateau states, Godswill Akpabio and Jonah Jang, to help him save his job.

Mr. Tukur reportedly held a meeting with some select PDP elders from his native Adamawa State at his residence in Abuja. At the end of the meeting, he delegated the elders to reach out to the two governors.

We learnt Mr. Tukur decided to reach out to the two governors because of their apparent closeness to President Goodluck Jonathan and because Mr. Akpabio is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum while Mr. Jang is the chairman of a faction of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, recognised by Mr. Jonathan.

Those mandated to meet with the two governors were former Corps Marshall of the FRSC, Haladu Hanaiya; the spokesperson of the Adamawa PDP elders Forum, Umar Ardo; and former Governor of old Gongola State, Wilberforce Juta.

When contacted, Mr. Ardo told PREMIUM TIMES that the committee has met with the Governor of Plateau State.

“We met with Governor Jang and all I can tell you for now is that the meeting was a huge success,” he said.
