Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about the real reason behind her divorce from fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson. The two were married for about two years. According to Abraham, her family had reservations from the start and even sought spiritual guidance, which revealed the marriage might not succeed. However, she chose to go ahead with it, ignoring their concerns.
In a candid conversation with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Toyin shared insights into her current marriage with actor Kola Ajeyemi. She described their relationship as one rooted in love, understanding, and mutual respect. She credited their bond to shared values and spiritual alignment, which gradually led to a romantic connection, then marriage, and eventually, two children.
Speaking about how their relationship developed, Toyin said Ajeyemi’s calm demeanor and strong faith drew her closer. She recalled how he was always present whenever she visited Abeokuta, which helped build their connection. As their relationship progressed, she began accompanying him to work and grew increasingly fond of him. Eventually, they introduced each other to their families and got married after she became pregnant.
Coming from a Christian background, Toyin explained that her family prayed about the relationship and received confirmation that Ajeyemi was the right man for her. Now, as a mother of two, she says she’s found joy and fulfillment in their marriage.
“Honestly, I married one of the best,” she said. “I won’t say the best, because there are other admirable marriages I look up to—like my godmother’s—but my husband is definitely one of the best.”
